Do I need a password for voice mail on my cell phone?

Some customers can use an “Auto Login” feature to access voice mail messages from a Southern Linc phone.  Auto Login eliminates the need to enter a password on the phone, however, a password is required to access voice mail from any other phone.

Should I use a password on my cell phone to protect my voice mail?

Yes. You can protect the privacy of your messages by using a password to access voice mail from your Southern Linc phone.

How do I set up a voice mail password for my cell phone?

If your voice mail box has an “Auto Login” feature established, follow the steps below to turn it off.

To Disable Auto Login:

  1. From your SouthernLINC phone, dial voicemail.
  2. Press 4 to “Access your Personal Options.”
  3. Press 8 to “Require your password when calling from your own phone.”   You will hear “Your password is now required.”
  4. Press ** to return to the main menu.
  5. Exit voicemail by ending your call.

How do I change my voice mail password?

You can change your voice mail password at any time by following the steps below.

To Change your Password:

  1. From your SouthernLINC phone, dial voicemail.
  2. Press 4 to “Access your Personal Options.”
  3. Press 4 again to “Modify your Personal Preferences.”
  4. Press 1 to “Modify your Password.”
  5. Enter a 4 to 7 digit numeric code.  The system will repeat the code you entered for verification.
  6. Press ** to return to the main voicemail menu.

How do I turn off the password requirement for voice mail access?

You can turn off the password requirement for voice mail access from your Southern Linc phone by activating the “Auto Login” feature.  Follow the steps below to activate this feature.

To Activate Auto Login:

  1. From your LINC phone, dial voicemail.
  2. Press 4 to “Access your Personal Options.”
  3. Press 8 to “Bypass your password when calling from your own phone.”  You will hear “Your password is no longer required.”
  4. Press ** to return to the main voicemail menu.
  5. Exit voicemail by ending your call.

 

If your mail box does not give you the option to press 8, please contact the Customer Solution by dialing 611 from your Southern Linc phone.  A representative will assist you in removing the password requirement from your mail box.
