What is “unlocking”?

“Unlocking” a wireless device (cellphone, tablet, etc.) refers only to disabling software that would prevent a consumer from attempting to activate a device designed for one carrier’s network on another carrier’s network, even if that network is technologically compatible.

When can I unlock my Southern Linc device?

If you are a postpaid customer, your Southern Linc device is eligible to be unlocked upon completion of your 1 or 2 year service agreement and once all balances owed on your account have been paid.

If you are a prepaid customer, your Southern Linc device is eligible to be unlocked 1 year after you first started service and once all balances owed on your account have been paid.

If you are a member of the military and are scheduled to be deployed outside of the Southern Linc service territory, your device is eligible to be unlocked upon showing your deployment papers and once all balances owed on your account have been paid.

Are there other wireless carriers’ networks on which I can activate and use my unlocked Southern Linc device?

Unfortunately, no. Southern Linc is the only wireless carrier in the United States that uses Motorola’s iDEN™ technology. Your unlocked iDEN phone will only operate on another iDEN™ network. No other wireless service provider operates an iDEN™ network in the United States.
